2026 Husker Season
Nebraska enters the NCAA Tournament with a record of 42 wins and 15 losses. This is the program’s best record over regionals in the past 20 years.
The Huskers opened the season with a 3-0 record. That hasn’t happened since 2005.
Before the first Big Ten Conference game, Nebraska’s record was 7-5. The sweep of Michigan State helped the Big Red win its 11th straight game and the first series win in eight league games.
Nebraska did not lose a Big Ten game at Haymarket Park. In fact, the Huskers only lost at home to Kansas, 23-1.
Nebraska finished in second place in conference play with a record of 23 wins and 7 losses. Over the past six seasons, the Huskers have finished in the top two of the Big Ten three times.
In the Big Ten Tournament, Nebraska’s opener was postponed as the league struggled to make decisions given the possibility of storms. When the Huskers were finally allowed to take the field for the ceremonial first pitch at 11 p.m. Friday, they defeated Michigan to advance to the semifinals for the fourth straight year.

But in Saturday’s semifinal, it was all Oregon. The Ducks defeated the Huskers 8-0 with three home runs. Oregon State would go on to lose 3-2 in the 11th inning to top-seeded UCLA in the championship.
Because Nebraska received a bye in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament, its pitching staff will be completely rested for the regional tournament, meaning the team will play just two games in 12 days.
Lincoln Area History
2001
Nebraska entered the 2001 postseason as the No. 8 seed in the nation. The Huskers defeated Northern Iowa 16-6 at Buck Belzer Stadium and beat Rutgers twice to win the region title.
In the super regional against Rice, Nebraska won 7-0, 9-6.
2002
Now at Haymarket Park, Nebraska is running through the area again. The Huskers defeated Milwaukee, Marist and Southwest Missouri State to win the region championship.
In the Super Regional, Nebraska needed to win all three games to defeat Richmond and advance to the College World Series for the second straight year.
2003
Nebraska, which will host the tournament for the third consecutive year, opened with a 16-11 victory over Eastern Michigan State. But then Southwest Missouri State upset the Huskers 4-2, forcing a repechage game. After crushing Eastern Michigan again, 18-2, Nebraska defeated Southwest Missouri State, 9-5.
Southwest Missouri State won 7-0 in the winner-take-all game.
2005
Nebraska, the No. 3 seed nationally, defeated UIC and defeated Creighton twice. In the Super Regional, the Huskers defeated Miami (Florida) and returned to the CWS.
In Omaha, the Huskers defeated Arizona State 5-3 for their first win on the Greatest Show on Dirt.
2006
After perhaps the best season in program history, the University of Nebraska returns to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed in the nation. This time, however, the Huskers quickly bounced back with losses to Manhattan (4-1) and San Francisco (5-1).
2008
It’s officially Hawks Field, Nebraska is back as host. The Huskers defeated Eastern Illinois, 13-10, but lost to UC Irvine, 3-2. Oral Roberts then shut out Nebraska 8-0 in the last regional game ever played in Lincoln.
