Big Dog’s Big 5 NFL betting: Week 3

Week 2 was, yes, it happened. I went 2-3 against the spread and 3-2 in the money, bringing my total in the two rounds to 5-5. The goal is to be above .500, so we’re moving at a good pace.

Here are my favorites going into Week 3.

San Francisco 49ers @ LA Rams

Line: 49ers -7

Top/Bottom: 45.5

Money lines: 49ers -290, Rams +240

Big Dog Game: San Francisco -7

Description: I love this game for several reasons. First, 49ers head coach Kyle Shannahan has Rams head coach Sean McVay. Most importantly, the Rams are decimated by injuries. Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp are out. Two starters on the offensive line and two on injured reserve. The Rams are relying on nine defensive starters on rookie contracts and three rookies to block the fort. 49ers win, big

49ers 37, Rams 13

Denver Broncos @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Line: Buccaneers -7

Top/Bottom: 40.5

Money lines: Buccaneers -290, Broncos +240

Big Dog Game: Tampa Bay -7

Description: Tampa Bay, along with the rest of the NFC South, looks better than last year. Baker Mayfield is showing us all why he went first overall in 2018. Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix, and literally the rest of the team, are still trying to put things together. Sure, seven points is a lot, but I’ll take it over Tampa Bay’s two-possession win

Buccaneers 27, Broncos 17

Mortal Lock Parlay

1st leg

LA Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Line: Metal tools -2

Top/Bottom: 35.5

Money lines: Metal tools -140, chargers +120

Game: Los Angeles +2

Description: These groups have the same information, but there is one big difference. The Steelers are still trying to find their offensive lines. The Chargers are set, and have both Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack. That’s the difference in the game that will see everything in the property.

Chargers 16, Steelers 13

The 2nd leg

Chicago Bears @ Indianapolis Colts

Line: Elements -1

Top/Bottom: 43.5

Money lines: Indianapolis -115, Chicago -105

Game: Below 43.5

Description: I will praise the Bears, their defense is perfect. The error, well, needs work. It’s just one annoying game with two games that shouldn’t be, but there are a lot of new features here.

Then there are the Colts, who were completely embarrassed by the Packers because of a weak defense. The big game here is a score below 43.5. An error will not steal the show here. But, since the focus is on the spreads and the moneyline, the Bears pull out the win.

Chicago 17, Indianapolis 10

The 3rd leg

Baltimore Ravens @ Dallas Cowboys

Line: Crows -1

Top/Bottom: 47.5

Money lines: Ravens -115, Cowboys -105

Game: Crows -1

Description: Who got the Ravens off to an 0-2 start on their 2024 NFL bingo card? Not me. I also wasn’t embarrassed that Dallas was embarrassed last week (on the other side, actually). It will happen again.

Lamar Jackson is 20-3 all-time against the NFC with a completion percentage of 64% for 4,277 yards with 34 touchdowns to eight.

Now add Derrick Henry to the equation against a defense that had 190 yards against the Saints last week.

Raven avoids falling to 0-3, Cowboys left scratching their heads.

Baltimore 38, Dallas 20
