College football tips, games, updates: Kansas State at BYU, Baylor at Colorado and more

Week 4 of the college football season features the start of conference play for many teams and should not disappoint based on the schedule.

Clemson started things off with complete control of conference rival NC State, scoring 45 points in the first half for an easy victory that put it in a tie with Miami atop the ACC.

The first games also involved making history. James Madison scored more points in the first half against North Carolina than ever in a 70-50 rout (UNC also had never allowed more points in a half before Saturday). Later, Temple kicker Maddux Trujillo drilled a 64-yard field goal – the longest in 16 years and just one yard shy of Martin Gramatica’s record.

In the evening window, No. 18 Michigan knocked off No. 11 USC in the only way the Wolverines could, actually winning only with their ground game. In another high-profile place, No. 12 Utah hosted No. 14 Oklahoma State for a Big 12 win despite Utes QB Cameron Rising sitting out another game.

Here are the winners and losers for Week 4 of college football.
