To celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary, Super Pretzel is transforming its iconic stadium snack food into a star-shaped offering for the summer festival, joining many other brands launching special edition products this year.
Superpretzels said in a news release that the pretzels are made in the shape of “America’s most iconic symbols” and are “patriotic from the freezer to the fork.”
“America’s 250th anniversary is a celebration that people will remember for years to come, and we wanted to create something simple, fun and shareable that families can enjoy together,” said Linwood Mallard, Chief Marketing Officer, J&J Snack Foods.
The company said its food is made in a place steeped in history.
“Each star pretzel is produced in the Philadelphia region, where the nation’s founding began. This regional heritage makes the star pretzel more than just a seasonal novelty. It’s a snack steeped in history, straight from the heart of ‘pretzel country.'”
In addition to being sold at sports, amusement parks, movie theaters, and other entertainment venues, Super Pretzels can be found in the freezer aisles of most grocery stores and mass merchandisers nationwide.
The company said the snacks “go from the freezer to the oven in minutes,” and recommended cooking them in the airfryer for extra crunch.
Star pretzels will be released on Memorial Day and will be available through September.
As Fox News Digital previously reported, several other heritage brands are also participating in America’s 250th anniversary celebration by offering limited edition patriotic-themed food and drinks.
Maker’s Mark announced that starting June 1, bourbon lovers will be able to purchase the Kentucky-grown liquor in bottles that feature “distinctive hand-dipped red wax accented with a white wax dip and a blue rendition of the iconic seal.”
A portion of the proceeds from the limited edition bottles will be donated to the Farmer Veteran Coalition. Maker’s Mark reports that the coalition is a “national nonprofit organization that has helped more than 58,000 U.S. veterans build meaningful careers in agriculture.”
Pillsbury announced that its Funfetti Stars & Stripes product line, which includes “celebratory cake mixes and bright frostings in patriotic colors,” contributed to the celebration.
The Sparkling Ice Company, in collaboration with Life Savers Candy, is launching a new red, white and blue 12-pack of sugar-free sparkling water.
Lisa Holcomb, vice president of Sparkling Ice’s parent company Talking Grain, said in a release that the brand is also partnering with rapper Flavor Fluff because “he has a natural talent for marrying old school to new era.”
Coca-Cola will also be changing its look this summer. Coca-Cola has announced the rollout of America 250 special packaging and collectible mini cans designed to celebrate the unique characteristics of all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Cheerios also announced that it will be releasing a special birthday cake flavored cereal that will be available in stores in commemorative red, white and blue boxes.
Mountain Dew is committed to honoring the nation’s special occasions.
The soda company changed its brand to “American Dew” and added the American flag to its bottles and cans.
